Exodus 14:21,22, ARTB
Moses fixed his hand over the sea. Yahweh strengthened an east spirit-wind to go by the sea all that night. The waters split, and set dirt in the sea. The sons of Israel came in the midst of the sea on the dry-land. The waters were a rampart to them right and left.
(Exodus 14:21,22) ARTB

Jeremiah 17:15, ARTB, New Testament Update

Behold, they say to me, "Where is the word of Yahweh? Please bring it!"  Jeremiah 17:15, ARTB

A note from A. Frances Werner:

This verse from Jeremiah certainly captures the urgency and interest that so many of you have about the New Testament.  Thank you for your support, and please continue to pray for me as the Almighty puts it on your heart.

Last week's experience can give you a good snapshot of my status.  I could easily review and "polish up" 5 chapters a day most days, but then one day, I spent the entire day on ONE word.  With the translinear approach, any word change propagates throughout the text, and has to be reviewed everywhere.  So even if an English word appears to work everywhere except one spot, it makes me stop dead in my tracks and review it.  It is that wrestling that has yielded some of the best insights into scripture.

If I could maintain my pace of 5 chapters a day, I will finish this month. But, I know better than to promise anything specific.  I'll keep you posted!

Habakkuk 3:16, ARTB, TINGLE
I hear the voice and my belly agitates and my lips tingle. Rottenness settles and comes in my bones and agitates me, that the day of persecution ascends to overcome the people.
(Habakkuk 3:16) ARTB

A note from A. Frances Werner:

This wonderfully descriptive verse comes as the prophet Habakkuk recognizes that the destruction of Jerusalem by Babylon is eminent. It's the verse immediately preceding the famous verses about the fig tree not flowering and the failure of the olives, yet Habakkuk rejoices.

The word TINGLE (Hebrew SALAL, Strongs 6750) occurs a total of 4 times and is normally associated with EARS.  Who knows?  Perhaps Habakkuk is being prompted to speak verse 18:

I will rejoice in Yahweh, and I will celebrate in the God of my salvation. (ARTB)

1Sa 3:11 Yahweh said to Samuel, "I do a word here in Israel, that tingles the two ears of any hearing it.
2Ki 21:12 so thus says Yahweh God of Israel, 'I will bring evil here over Jerusalem and Judah. Any that hears of it, his two ears will tingle!
Jer 19:3 Say to the kings of Judah, and dwellers of Jerusalem, 'Hear the word of Yahweh! Thus says Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel: I will bring an evil here over this place: Any that hears, his ears will tingle!"
Hab 3:16 I hear the voice and my belly agitates and my lips tingle. Rottenness settles and comes in my bones and agitates me, that the day of persecution ascends to overcome the people.

Psalm 117, ARTB, YAHWEH, YAH
All nations, praise Yahweh! All tribes commend him! For the mercy and truth of Yahweh prevails over us forever. Praise Yah! -- (Ps.117)  ARTB
A note from A. Frances Werner:

These verses are the complete Psalm 117, the shortest one in the scriptures.  The original Hebrew contains the name of YAHWEH, plus the shortened form YAH.  While YAHWEH, the name of God, is used over 6800 times in the Old Testament, YAH is only used 49 times.  45 of those uses are within songs (Exodus 15 or Psalms) .  Only 4 times does it occur in conversation (Exodus 17:16, and in Isaiah 12:2, 26:4, and 38:11).  It is not clear to me why this shortened form exists.  I'd love to hear of any insights you may have.

Psalm 54, ARTB, David's betrayal

I donate sacrifices to you. I acknowledge your good name, Yahweh.  Psalm 54:6 ARTB

A note from A. Frances Werner:

This is a short, but powerful psalm.  David's location in hiding from Saul was betrayed not once, but twice by the locals from the town of Ziph (1 Samuel 23:19, 1 Samuel 26:1).  The first time, Yahweh saved David by sending a messenger distracting Saul to fight elsewhere.  The second time, David was able to sneak into Saul's camp while everyone was asleep.

Although we don't know exactly when this psalm-prayer was sung by David, it certainly is a wonderful response to persecution and betrayal.  Here is Psalm 54 from ARTB in its entirety:

54:1 To the conductor of instruments. A lesson from David when the Ziphites came and said to Saul, 'Did not David hide with us? 'Save me, God, by your name, and plead for me by your might.
54:2 Hear my prayer, God. Hearken to the sayings of my mouth.
54:3 For commoners rise toward me, and tyrants seek my soul. They never set God before them. Selah.
54:4 God helps me, for the Lord put my soul here
54:5 to return evil to my adversaries, and topple them with your truth.
54:6 I donate sacrifices to you. I acknowledge your good name, Yahweh.
54:7 For he delivers me from all persecution. My eye sees my enemies.
