Several people have asked me my opinion of the popular U-tube video that is circulating widely on the internet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=raCRSjnT0Wc
The contributor, ppsimmons, asks the question whether Barack Obama’s name is revealed in Luke 10:18, if the text was translated into Hebrew.
Since I’m working on the Aramaic text, I thought I’d give you the latest from my work.
1) The Hebrew and Aramaic agree for the word “lightning”. The spelling is “BARAQ” as the contributor points out, and the Strong’s numbers is 1300. Interestingly, Strong’s number 1301 is the proper name, “Barak”. He helped fight with Deborah in the book of Judges, chapters 4 and 5. You can look up ALL the references for those Strong’s numbers at the website on the ARTB Bible Search: http://www.ancientrootsbible.com/external/text/word/strongs-search.html
2) I translated the Hebrew word 1116 as “High-Places”, not “Height” or “Heaven”. In some places the spelling is “BMH” and some places “BMT”. The Hebrew in the verse cited in the video, Isaiah 14:14, is the BMT form, not the BMH form. Isaiah 16:12 and Ezekiel 20:29 use the BMH form. So the clear point to the president’s last name is not quite so straightforward.
3) The Aramaic translation of the New Testament matches half of his conclusion about Luke 10:18. The word “lightning” BARAK, is there. But the second word is a different words altogether, 8065, which I’ve designated as “heaven”, “SHMYN”.
Here’s the rough copy of my notes for the passage with the English words and the matching Hebrew strong’s numbers:
18 (He) 1930 (said) 560 (to) 3807b (them) 2007 (I have) t1934e (envisioned) 2370 (Satan) 7854 (He) 1886bl (fell) 5308d (as) 3588c (lightning) a1300 (from) 4481 (heaven) a8065
4) The meaning of our President’s name is closer to “LIGHTNING AND HIGH-PLACES” without a clean match on the last name. I do not agree with the conclusion that his name is "revealed" in Luke 10:18.
I’m very excited that the work I’m doing in Ancient Roots will allow us to view all the references for a particular Hebrew/Aramaic word THROUGHOUT the bible. Today you have to do a lot of work to put the pieces together--soon it should be easier!
The New Testament has NOT gone to press yet. If you note above, the Strong’s numbers for the passage match the Hebrew. This has never been done before, and required more work than I expected. Stay tuned—I’ll let you know as soon as it goes to the printer.
