Jeremiah 4:19, ARTB (shofar, fanfare) |
|
My bowels, my bowels! The walls of my heart travail! My heart rumbles in me, and never silences. My soul hears the voice of the shofar and the fanfare of war!
(Jeremiah 4:19) ARTB
Note from A. Frances Werner:
The word FANFARE is a marvelous word utilized in the ARTB which is based on a specific Hebrew word that occurs 36 times in the Old Testament. Most other translations translate it as SHOUT. But it's not the sound of a human voice, it's the sound of instruments. By far, most references are associated with shofar or trumpet fanfare, b ut there is one application which refers to the sound of cymbals. Can you hear it?
Yahweh God ascends with fanfare, with the voice of a shofar. (Psalm 47:5) ARTB
Praise him with the report of cymbals: Praise him with cymbal fanfare. (Psalm 150:5) ARTB
