Ruth 3:8,9 ARTB, Wings of God
It was half in the night. The man trembled and gripped and beheld a woman laying by his feet. He said, "Who are you?" She said, "I am Ruth your maidservant. Spread your wings over your maidservant. You are my redeemer."
(Ruth 3:8,9) ARTB

Note from A. Frances Werner:

This passage is one of my favorites in all of scripture.  The word WINGS may appear to be an unusual choice.  Birds have WINGS, cherubim and seraphim have WINGS, but the use of the word WINGS with a cloak is certainly different in our current age when we are wearing clothes with sleeves instead of being blanket-like.  There are over a dozen verses about the WINGS of a cloak:

"Speak to the sons of Israel, and say to them to make for themselves and for their generations tassels over the wings of their cloaks. Give over the tassel of the wings a blue ribbon." (Numbers 15:38) ARTB
It’s another wonderful image to add to your meditation about God.  His WINGS are not only as an eagle to raise us up, but the wonderful image of being snuggled close, covered by his cloak:

Keep me as a daughter, a twinkle of your eye. Hide me in the shadow of your wings. (Psalm 17:8) ARTB

I stay by your tent forever, taking-refuge and hiding in your wings. Selah. (Psalm 61:4) ARTB

For you are my helper. In the shadow of your wings I cheer! (Psalm 63:7) ARTB
