Numbers 11:16, 17, spirit-wind, Pentecost

Yahweh said to Moses, "Gather to me seventy men of the elders...I will descend the spirit-wind deposited over you over them.." (Numbers 11:16,17) ARTB

A note from A. Frances Werner:

Happy Pentecost!  Today marks the outpouring of the holy spirit-wind in Jerusalem on the disciples as recorded in Acts 2.  The word PENTECOST is actually a Greek word meaning FIFTY.  The original Hebrew feast was called the FEAST OF HARVEST, or FEAST OF WEEKS (7 times 7 days) which occured after Passover.  It was one of the three main holy days in which all circumcised males needed to trek to Jerusalem.  That's why there were so many people of all nations and tongues gathered in Jerusalem that day.

Because the Jewish faith does not recognize the TRINITY,  there is nothing in the history of the FEAST OF HARVEST which obviously ties it to the outpouring of the spirit-wind after Jesus' (Yeshua) death.  But this verse in Numbers provides an interesting connection.

This event is occurs in year 2 of the Israelite nation's time in the desert.  They had just celebrated the Passover again (Numbers 9).  Numbers 10:22 gives a date of the 20th of the second month, which is approximately 5 weeks after Passover.  (They had not budged from Sinai until a year AFTER receiving the commandments and laws.)

The actual timetable of the event in Numbers 11 does not exist, even though it appears to exist in the right period of time.  But it certainly coincides with the same intent of Pentecost--the power of the spirit-wind of God on High extended to earth!

Isaiah 61:1, ARTB, anointed, messiah, bring-news, broken hearted
The spirit-wind of the Lord Yahweh is over me, since Yahweh anointed me to bring-news to the humble. He sent me to bind the broken hearted, to call the captured to liberty, and unseal the harnessed. (Isaiah 61:1) ARTB

A note from A. Frances Werner:

Jesus (Yeshua) read this passage to his hometown synagogue as recorded in Luke 4.  The assembly sat in stunned silence when he mentioned that the word was fulfilled that day. For years, I thought this was an excellent summary of his ministry, and an excellent prophesy of his ministry.  But I'm not sure I would have been as stunned as they were. Why were all eyes fixed on him?

They knew that the word ANOINTED was the verb form of the word MESSIAH.

This passage answers the very significant question:  If Yeshua was the anointed, the Messiah, where did he get the anointing?  He was not like David or Saul receiving the anointing from one of his prophets.  A king from the line of Judah surely needed an anointing. A Messiah surely needed an anointing, or could not claim the title. The only anointing that is recorded in the scripture is the anointing given by a woman who poured out anointing oils from the alabaster box.

Isaiah 61 shows that God the Father, Yahweh, not only designated him for ministry, but ANOINTED him, making him Messiah with the power of the holy spirit-wind.

Also, the verse is not filled with typos.  BROKEN HEARTED is shown as two separate words because the original Hebrew has two distinct words, even though our English language utilizes only one word.  And just the opposite, BRING-NEWS is hyphenated because there is only one word in the original Hebrew.  This critical feature of the ARTB is designed to make your bible study easier.
